Abstract

191015. Buxton, T. Jan. 1. Balancing on axle.-In twowheeled vehicles of which the body is moved backwards or forwards on the axle to balance the load when the vehicle is on an incline, and in which, when the body is moved backwards, the front part of the wheels come into contact with brake shoes, whereby the load on the horse's back is increased, the body is moved by means of a screw D operating a nut E, which is connected by links to slides fixed on the axle. One of the brake shoes is shown at H. It is carried by a spring- pressed rod h mounted on the body of the vehicle.
