Abstract
30,379. Johnson, J. Y., [Badische Anilin and Soda Fabrik]. Dec. 29. Sodium, zinc-sodium, and other hyposulphites.- Hyposulphites containing water are rendered anhydrous by treatment with ammonia, at a temperature above the dehydration temperature of the hyposulphite. The ammonia solution is separated by filtration or the like. An alkali, an alkali salt, or an ammonium salt may be added, and, when other than alkali hyposulphites are being treated, the presence of the alkali salt produces anhydrous alkali hyposulphite. In the examples, ammonia is caused to act at various specified temperatures on an aqueous sodium hyposulphite paste ; on an alcoholic sodium hyposolphite paste ; on a mixture of hydrated sodium hyposulphite and sodium or ammonium chloride ; on a mixture of ammonia solution, ammonium chloride, zinc-sodium hyposulphite, and caustic soda ; and on a mixture of ammonia solution and zinc-sodium hyposulphite. Specifications 23,515/04, 22,525/06, 20,198/08, and 20,199/08 are referred to.
