Abstract

Bag filters.-In a filter for feedwater of the type in which the filter casing is divided into two or more compartments each of which is fitted with a corrugated filtering b o d y so that the water is repeatedly filtered, the bodies G<1>, H are constructed as described in Specifications 24,411/93, and 1972/02, and are preferably arr a n g e d horizontally, the bottom of each compartment being formed hopper-shaped and fitted with cocks G for the discharge of imparities. The partition w h i c h divides the chest A into compartments consists of a tubular boss d, Figs. 3, and a diaphragm D radiating obliquely from the boss. The boss is closed at one end d' and has ports I at the side. Liquid from an inlet B is spread by a distributor 0, filters into the shell G', passes through the ports I to the outside of the shell H, and, after filtering through the shell H, leaves by the outlet C. Plates L, L<1> are attached to the shells at either end by means of bolts K which screw through apertures in the boss d. The partition is held tightly against the shoulder a by means of a spring N. The end of the cloth on the shell G<1> is tied in a groove formed on the diaphragm D, which may be perforated at the part covered by the cloth. The end of the cloth on the shell H is tied in a groove R formed by the opposing ends of the shell H and boss d.
