Abstract

11,051. Harris, A. June 18. Feedwater, purifying, filters for. A pleated bag A, with its pleats folded as indicated in Fig. 2, is mounted between two perforated cylinders B and F, being secured at top and bottom so as to make a tight joint as shown in Fig. 1. Inlet and outlet valves I and L are arranged as shown, and a safety bye-pass valve M is provided, which may have an alarm in connection with it ; or a single multiple-way plug valve P, Fig. 3, may be provided, having a bye-pass U, which is opened to the inlet and outlet Q and 8, when the passages R and T are closed. Three bags A may be arranged in compartments of a single casing, as shown in Fig. 7, the water being passed through them in succession ; or two or more may be concentrically arranged. Figs. 12 and 15 show a modified construction, in which a bag is coiled round a nozzle B, which may, however, be prolonged in the form of a perforated tube.
