Abstract

21,422. Campbell, R. Sept. 14. [Addition to 29,902/09.] Bag filters.-The partitions that separate the filtering- chambers in filters, as described in the parent Specification, are formed hollow with walls A, A'. The water, which has filtered into the corrugated shell in the chamber D, enters the hollow of the partition through a central aperture in the wall A and passes round through one or more pipes J for delivery at about the centre of the chamber D'. With this arrangement, the water is distributed over the shell in the chamber D', so that filtration is not mainly confined to one end of the element. An annular passage may take the place of the pipe J, the passage being formed in the chest or in a separate casting bolted thereto.
