Sinuous springs.-Consists in providing a doorclosing device with a corrugated plate a, Fig. 1, of resilient material secured to the door c and jamb d preferably near the bottom of the door. The fixing screws f, at one or both sides may pass through slots in the plate so that the initial compression of the plate may be adjusted. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, one end of the plate a is hinged to one flap k of a binge the other flap m of which is screwed to the door jamb, and the other end of the plate engages under a staple a or wide-headed screw so as to be readily detachable to render the closing device temporarily inoperative. An angle-plate x, secured to the jamb, contacts the hinge flap k and holds it against an angle-plate r secured to the hinge flap m. To increase the stiffness of the spring plate a, a wedge may be driven into one or more of the corrugations to widen them.
