6264. Drummond, R. March 25. Door checks.-Relates to a spring device fixed to the jamb to prevent slamming in railway carriage and other doors. The device, Fig. 1, resembles a hinge of which one flap b is screwed to the jamb h and the other a is pressed outwards by two springs in sockets (not shown) recessed into the door jamb. A flange d on the flap a acts as a stop. When the door is closed, it presses back the flap a, and presses back the springs, slamming being thus prevented.
