Abstract

29,559. Stephen, G. J. Dec. 17. Composition fuel consisting of anthracite duff, alone or mixed with breeze or bituminous coal, or with both, and agglomerated with about 8 per cent of water and alkali silicate, is made into small blocks having a volume of about 1 1/3 cubic inches or less to facilitate hardening. The disintegrated coal is mixed with the binder, passed through a superheater, moulded, and dried for about twenty minutes on conveyer bands inside a heated chamber. According to the Provisional Specification, the hardened blocks may be dipped in boiling tar, pitch, or other vegetable or mineral oil.
