Abstract

Multi-stage centrifugal fans; balancing moving parts; casings.-A multi-stage fan is built up of a number of similar sections supported on a frame d on a motor casing h and fitted with an end plate c provided with an inverted annular trough of increasing depth terminating in an endwise exit opening c<2>. The impellers have teeth or similar engaging portions on the hubs so that the whole set rotate as one. By this means the impellers may be arranged so that there is no resultant centrifugal force. Alternatively each impeller may be constructed as described in Specification 8672/09, and keyed to the shaft. Each section is fitted to the next by a bead a<4> and has an internal oblique flange a<1> provided with usual vanes a<3>.
