[Cognate Application, 4635/10.] Non-metallic elastic bodies and cores; tyre attachments to rims.-Relates to wheels of the kind in which a non-rigid tread is supported on resilient arches, carried by the rim, as described - in Specification 23,134/09, [Class 144(i), Wheels &c.]. The arches are rigidly fixed to one part, either at their centres or ends, and bear only against the other. In the form shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the arches are arranged in two staggered series. Their ends are secured in dovetailed recesses. The centre part of each arch extends laterally and bears upon arches of the other series. In the form shown in Figs. 4 and 5, the ends of the arches fit in pairs in squared recesses. The continuous or sectional rubber tyre 20 is formed with lateral flanges which are engaged by the inturned corrugated edges of side plates 21 secured to the felloe by transverse bolts. In the other methods of securing the arches, the centre of the arch may be formed with a dovetailed projection fitted into a recess in the felloe, while its ends bear against the tyre, or the ends may fit in recesses in the tyre and its centre bear against the felloe. In the form shown in Fig. 6, the felloe is in three parts arranged side by side. The arches are secured in the centre part, and a continuous rubber cover of arch section is secured in undercut recesses 31 in the outer parts by side plates 33. According to the Provisional Specification 4635/10, the edges of these side plates may be corrugated.
