Lathes. - A copying-lathe applicable to the manufacture of lasts for boots and shoes has means for varying the cross-sectional shape of the work without altering the model. The lathe is of the type in which the work and model are rotatably mounted on a swinging frame, and in which the cutter head and guide-wheel can be traversed at different speeds along the bed of the machine, the guide-wheel being transversely adjustable. To vary the shape of the work from the model, a cam j preferably mounted on the swinging frame transmits by adjustable links j<3>, j<4>, h<2> and a plate H a differential motion to the guide-wheel slide d<1>.
