Aspirating apparatus, ejector; regulating or controlling.-In ejectors having steam and air valves of the lift type operated as described in Specification 7294/09, an independent valve is provided which allows the small ejector to exhaust the engine brake-cylinder continuously, and which cuts off communication with the train-pipe when the main air valve is in the brake ' on ' position. In the form shown in Fig. 1, a valve casing b, divided into two parts, is fitted between the small ejector and the non- return valve a..A valve c, operated by a cam g, allows both the cylinder and the train-pipe to be exhausted when the two parts d, f are in communication as shown. When the valve c is closed, the cylinder only is exhausted by way of the pipe e and the chamber d. In a modification, a plug cock is used instead of the lift valve c, but any type of valve may be used.
