Hook fastenings; stud-and-slot fastenings.- Braces or suspenders are provided with a curved slot d, which receives the ball h attached to a piece f of sheet metal &c. sewn to the trousers. The part g, which connects the ball h and the plate f, is covered with a rubber sleeve i. The ball may engage a slotted hook, as shown in Fig. 4, instead of the part d. The socket may be a hook with the ends bent round and a vertical slot in front; the shank attached the ball is then pivoted to the plate on the trousers. In another modification, the socket is bag-shaped with a hole in the side to admit the ball.
