Abstract

Tilting-bottle apparatus.-A containing vessel a is pivoted so that it may be tilted, as shown in Fig. 3, and is provided with a screw stopper e carrying a conical tube d, the wide end of which extends nearly to the bottom of the vessel. The tube d has an aperture g and another aperture i<2>, from which an air-pipe i extends upwards, projecting through the cap e. When the vessel has been filled and the stopper screwed down, liquid flows through the aperture g into the conical tube, rising therein until it closes the aperture g. When the vessel is tilted to the position shown in Fig. 3, the liquid in the tube d runs out, air passing in by the pipe i. The amount of liquid measured may be varied by adjusting a screw cap h at the lower end of the tube d.
