Specific - gravity estimating-apparatus. - A device for giving a continuous record of the specific-gravity of a fluid comprises a float b which is suspended from one arm of a lever c and moves in glycerine &c. in a vessel a. Within the float is a central tube m, into which passes the supply-pipe k, terminating in an horizontal tube l, so that the fluid impinges in two horizontal streams against the tube m. The fluid leaves by the tubes n and passes into the trough o on the vessel a. Around the float is an annular hollow compartment h. The float is guided vertically by pins i. At the other end of the lever c is an arm d which carries a pencil e moving over a drum f. A weight q can be adjusted along the short arm of the lever, and the float can be adjusted vertically by the nut r.
