Fastenings, pivoted-stanchion type, for wagon doors.-To prevent the stanchions from jamming owing to the pressure of the door, the supporting-bracket is so formed that, as the stanchion is raised, it also moves away from the door. For this purpose, the guide surfaces g of the supporting-bracket and the slot a of the pin-and-slot connexion may be inclined, as shown in Fig. 2, being, however, preferably vertical at the upper portion to prevent casual rising of the stanchion. The lower end of the stanchion j may be inclined, to correspond with the guides g. In a further modification, Fig. 8, the slot n and outer supporting-surface of the bracket are vertical, but there is an inner inclined surface r, so that, as the stanchion is raised, it can pivot outwards about the pin h. The lower end of the surface r is preferably vertical, and may comprise an antifriction roller.
