Abstract

19,938. Nager, E. Sept. 7, 1908, [Convention date]. Starting.-In a device for starting with compressed air, a check valve is placed in the compressed - air pipe and is controlled by a cam so as to be opened when the starting- valve is operated, but to remain closed both during normal running and when the starting - lever is being moved back .through the starting position to the stationary p o s ition. A shaft d, which carries an arm m for adjusting a cam c for operating the compressed-air valve a, also carries a cam k which actuates the lever g through a grooved rod h. When .the arm n is moved into the starting position, the lever g is moved against the action of a spring-pressed pawl l, and the check valve f is opened. As the arm n is moved into the running position, the rod h is further depressed, and the lever g is forced by the pawl back into the groove on the rod h, the valve f being thus closed. The lever g cannot then be depressed to open the valve until the handle n has been moved back to the position for stopping.
