19,716. Strachan, J. M. Aug. 27. Block tyres.-A tyre for replacing temporarily a pneumatic tyre fitted to a Clincher rim consists of hinged plates C, which carry rubber blocks and are connected by a circumferential screwed bolt P held at one end by the apertured head of a bolt H passing through the valve hole. The screwed part of the bolt passes through a block 0. A bracket M secured to the end plate C is formed with a slot N and a lug M engaged by the block 0. The plates are doubled at their ends by bending them over and the loops so formed are connected by pins C<1> held in position by the rim edges. The blocks shown in Fig. 2 are formed of a wooden body D with a rounded rubber covering E, but they may consist wholly of rubber vulcanized to the plates. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 2870/05.
