Counters of screw-and-nut type.-The extent of the longitudinal movement of the rotary spindle of an injector or of a valve is indicated by a piece which moves through the same distance as the spindle, but which is prevented from rotating by engagement with a stationary part. As applied to an injector, a finger a is secured to a collar b rotatable upon a reduced portion c of the spindle d. The finger a slides in a groove f in a collar g, which can be secured in any position by means of the set-screw i and a circumferential groove j. By this means, the scale a<1> on the collar g may always be kept in view. In alternative constructions, the groove that engages the index finger may be formed in the upper collar, or it may be replaced by two pins to prevent rotation. In the latter case, one of the pins acts as a pointer.
