Abstract

18,832. Robinson, G. L., and Dean, J. Aug. 15, 1908, [Convention date]. Operating swinging doors; checks.-Doors are checked against slamming, and then brought to, and retained in, the closed position, by spring- controlled arms 12 fitted at each end with rollers 15, 15<a> of yielding material and pivoted at 13 in a frame 1, which is formed from sheet metal and secured to the door jamb. The spring 11 is hooked to a lug 6, cut and bent out of the frame, and to a cross-bar 17 between the arms. On opening the door 16, the arms are turned on their pivot 13, bringing the spring 11 to the other side thereof, and the roller 15<a> into the path of the door. On closing, the door is first checked by the roller 15<a>, which is forced back, bringing the spring 11 across the pivot 13 so that the roller 15 acts to close the door, the roller 15<a> coming to rest against the frame 1.
