Fixed bucket conveyers; collapsible framework for endless-belt conveyers.-A fire-escape &c. consists of an extensible ladder or frame provided with an endless lowering-band, which is formed of a number of removable sections to enable t h e band to be adjusted in length according to the height of the ladder. The sections e of the endless band each carry a pocket or bucket f, and are connected together by transverse bars k, the ends of which carry rollers l adapted to run along the sides a of the ladder. The band is provided with a belt g having openings with which engage teeth on rollers at the upper and lower ends of t h e frame. The sides a telescope into angle - bars s formed with spikes at the bottom, and the two parts of the frame are held in any required relative position by a transverse rod passed through holes.
