Abstract

16,564. Bender, E., and Bender & Frõmbs Ges. July 15. Regenerators.-Tubular passages, through which the gases of combustion pass, are encountered on all sides by the air flowing in the same or in opposite direction. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the waste gases flow from the source of heat through the passage b, thence through the passages d of the regenerator which are composed of bricks or slabs e, h, and finally pass through the passage c to the chimney. The flues d and the air passages k between them are supported on bricks or blocks f, which form air passages above and below the flues d. The air passages communicate with inlet and outlet passages m, l respectively, the supporting - bricks f and the bricks g being omitted in the planes of the passages m, l, as shown in Fig. 4. The end slabs h are made broader to form better supports for the slabs c, and they may be rounded at their outer edges to form better air-ways.
