Abstract

15,184. Baker, G. H. M. June 29. Tree-felling; saw-feeding devices.-A sawing- device for tree-felling and like purposes, of the kind comprising a guideway connected to the tree &c. and saw-carrying means movable thereon for effecting the feed, has a guide-plate for slidably engaging and guiding the saw, and mounted, preferably pivotally, on a guide-block which is drawn along a guideway by a weighted cord. A pair of tongs 10, 11, provided with spikes 12 to engage the tree A or like object, support a guideway B, which is adjustably secured by bolts passing through holes 15 and a slot 14 in the outer ends of'the tongs 10, 11 respectively. A block C fitted with rollers is mounted on the guideway and carries a pivoted angle-plate D, which supports, and bears against the back of, the saw E. The feed is effected by a chain or cord 28 connected to the block C and passing along a groove 30 in the guideway B to a weight 27, which tends to draw the block along the guideway.
