Abstract
12,749. Cooper, A. W. May 29. Liquid-pressure engines.-An hydraulic engine for operating a mechanical stoker comprises a cylinder, which is reciprocated on a fixed piston b having a larger area for the pressure than t h e return stroke. Pressure fluid is admitted to one side or other of the piston through ports b<1> in the piston-rod, under control of a piston valve G'. This is operated by pressure fluid supplied under control of a slide valve G', operated by a bracket F on the cylinder engaging stops g on the valve-rod G. The speed of the engine is regulated by a valve on the exhaust pipe.
