Impregnating - compositions; wood, treating with liquids.-Wood is preserved by immersion in a solution containing about 1À5 per cent of ferric chloride, 2 per cent of ammonia-alum or schoenite, and from 1À5 to 2 per cent of magnesium chloride. The wood is treated in a boiler &c. at about 100‹ C. for from two to five hours, and is then left for about ten hours in the solution to cool.
