Abstract
11,770. Smith, R. T. May 19. Tyre attachments to rims.-Fixed and adjustable springy metal disks c, b secured and adjusted at their centres only by means such as rivets r and nuts e are formed with grooved peripheries which engage beadings on a pneumatic or other elastic tyre seated on a rim d. In the form shown, the disk b only engages a bead. The second bead is held by the curved edge of the rim which is seated against the flared edge of the disk c, and may be secured thereto. In a second form, the rim d is a plain band, and both disks engage the beads. In a third form, the rim is split, and the two parts, which engage the beads, may be fixed to, or detachably held by, the disks. The rim is slotted to accommodate the security bolts,
