Abstract

8440. Compton, H. E. April 7. Easel stands.-In a combined stool and easel adapted to be folded up and carried on the fork of a bicycle, the angularly-adjustable easel C, consisting of two connected parts carrying, by means of bolts and wing-nuts G, inclined pieces F adapted to grip the colour card, plate, canvas, &c., is secured by means of a wooden clip D and a wing-nut E to an extension of the leg B of the stool A<1> The stool A<1> can be folded up to the shape of a stick when the seat, which is attached to the leg B, is removed from the other legs. In the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3, adapted for oil-colour work, the easel C made of thick material, and the leg Hare secured to an intermediate piece L by means of a wing-nut and a bolt M. In a modification suitable for water-colour work, the intermediate piece L is dispensed with and the easel and the leg H are connected to the clip D, a three-legged stool may be used, and the clip D may be inverted to bring the easel nearer to the artist. The colourcard &c. may be rested on the knees of the artist. A. colour-box or a water-cup k may be clipped on the extension of the leg B.
