Berths. - T h e vertical members a of built-in metal bedsteads for ships, barracks, infirmaries, &c. are crossshaped in section, as shown in plan in Fig. 5, and the horizontal members d are preferably of T-section, in order to render all parts accessible for cleaning. The horizontal members d are all of the same pattern so as to be renewable, and are preferably provided with hook-shaped ends g fitting in recesses c in rosettes b on the uprights. Additional side or division frames may be supported in sockets k<2> of members k having clips k<1> engaging the edges of the horizontal members d.
