[Addition to 21,686/08.] Joints and connexions.-In a metallic bedstead in which the head and foot members are connected by angle-iron sides a arranged so that spring mattresses of a standard width may be accommodated between the vertical webs a', as described in the parent Specification, the sides are so connected to the corner chills b, c that all are on the same level, whereby the mattress may extend the whole length of the bedstead and at the same time be supported by the horizontal flanges of angle-iron sides. The webs a<1> have projections or extensions a<3>, as shown in Fig. 5, which are adapted to be embedded in the chills b, suitable apertures e, e<1> being provided for ensuring a better engagement of the metal.
