Monoazo dyes are obtained by combining the diazo compounds of toluidines or their sulphonic acids with arylmethylpyrazolone sulphonic acids, or by combining the diazo compounds of toluidines or their monosulphonic acids with arylmethylpyrazolones and sulphonating the'products whereby a sulphonic group is introduced into the aryl residue of the pyrazolone. According to examples : -diazotized p-toluidine is combined with 1-psulphophenyl-3 -methyl- 5 -pyrazolone ; diazotized 2-toluidine-5-sulpbonic and is combined with 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone, and the product is sulphonated ; o- and m-toluidine are also specified as suitable components. The products dye wool yellow shades.
