Abstract

Monoazo dyes are obtained by combining diazo compounds of the benzene or naphthalene series (except. o-chloranilines or homologues thereof) with p-sulphobenzylalkyl-m-toluidines. The following components are specified:-mxylidine, 4-nitro-2-toluidine, 3-amino-4-ethoxybenzoic acid, o-aminodiphenylether and its 4<1>- sulphonic acid, m-aminobenzenesulphamide, 4- toluidine-2-sulphanilide, 1-naphthylamine-2-, -4-, or -5-sulphonic acid, 2-naphthylamine-4:8-disulphonic acid, 1:8-aminonaphthol-3:6-disulphonic acid, acetyl-1:4-diaminonaphthalene-6- sulphonic acid, 4<1>-toluidine-2<1>-sulphonyl-1-naphthylamine-5-sulphonic acid; p-sulphobenzylmethyl-m-toluidine, p-sulphobenzylethyl-m-toluidine. The products dye wool yellow to red to violet shades from acid baths.
