Abstract

7299. Trier, W. A. March 26. [Cognate Application, 8422/09.] Systems, electric. - In ignition . devices in which the timing of the ignition is effected by the breaking of the primary circuit, a subsidiary circuit containing an auto-trembler and a battery is arranged in shunt across the break device, this second circuit being used for starting the engine. The normal sparking-current may be supplied from a self-contained magneto A, the battery J in the second circuit being used with the induction coil on the magneto armature; or the current is normally supplied from a battery and non-trembler coil. A switch K puts the subsidiary circuit in connexion with the ignition coil, and this switch may, in the case of magneto ignition, have a short-circuiting terminal. In a further modification, the same battery is employed for normal running and for starting, a throw-over switch altering the connexion. In the various modifications, since the subsidiary circuit is in shunt to the break device E, with the latter closed, no current passes through the induction coil.
