6729. Welch, W. H. I. March 20. Incandescent gas burners; burners, attaching.- The horizontal or inclined mixing-tube 6, which is normally held against displacement, is carried by, and capable of rotation with, the inverted burner mouth 12, in order that access may be had to the gas nipple7; the mixing-tubeand nozzle may beremoved bodily from the lamp. The invention is described as applied to a railway-carriage lamp. Radial arms on the lamp frame carry the boss 8, within which is rotatably supported the conical nozzle 12. The mixing-tube 6 is cut away near the nipple to allow of movement, and is held in position by a catch 10, Fig. 3, pivoted upon the frame and bevelled or otherwise shaped on its underside 11. A hit-andmiss air-valve may be arranged upon the mixing- tube, and a metal chimney may be arranged above or around the burner. According to the Provisional Specification, a portion only of the mixing- tube may rotate with the burner mouth, leaving the other part detachably secured to the nipple; several burners may be used ; and the burner mouth may be branched into two or more outlets.
