Couplings, disconnectible; overlap joints with yielding outer pipe compressed.-The coupling- members are similar and comprise trapezoidal wings B springing from a ring rotatably connected to a milled collar C by screws M passing through slots in an annular projection on the collar C, which also carries studs N adapted to engage in helical grooves I in the wings of the other coupling - member when the parts are coupled. An inner member A carries jointmaking packing, preferably hollow, and provided with an aperture communicating with the bore of the pipe, to receive internal fluid pressure to aid in forming a tight joint. The hose-pipe is clamped to the member A by a ring in three parts housed in a groove R and pressed against the hose-pipe by screws. The parts are coupled by engaging the wings B of one coupler in the spaces between the wings of the other coupler, and causing the studs N to enter the grooves I by partial rotation of the collars C. The parts are held in the coupling position by springs E between the members A, B.
