[Published under Section 91 of the Act.] Refrigerating, absorption machines and processes for.-In an ammonia absorption apparatus a solid absorbent is employed. The whole apparatus is hermetically closed and the direction of the flow of gas is determined by a disposition of check valves. The vessel d, which serves alternately as the generator and the absorber, is provided with a coil through which steam or cold water may be passed. The gas flows through a check valve k to a coil q located ia a vessel containing water, which overflows into a funnel at the upper end of the pipe t. The liquified ammonia passes into the coil r in the congealer and subsequently evaporates, the gas returning through the check valve k<1> to the vessel d, which is then being cooled. Before the generator is heated, air is exhausted through the valve x.
