Clutches, friction.-Relates to coil clutches of the type actuated as described in Specifications 17,616/04 and 17,617/04, means being provided for moving the clutch drum clear of the coil during disengagement of the clutch. The coil is secured at one end m to a part b secured to a shaft or pulley a. The conical clutch drum e forms parts of a sleeve f, on which slides a lever - operated collar k. A spring i bears against a fixed stop j and a stop h on the sleeve f. In disengaging the clutch, the collar k is first moved away from contact with the coil - tightening lever r, similar to that described in the abovementioned Specifications, and then engages the stop h, moving the drum e from contact with the coil, against the action of the spring i. A bracket o and hook-pieces projecting from the part b prevent axial movement of the coil.
