Abstract

3638. Atkinson, H. G., and White, W. Feb. 15. Hand - pumps. - A pump for filling the oilcups of bearings is of the spring - returned plunger type connected to a portable tank and having a nozzle adapted to enter the oil - cups. Fig. 1 shows a pump which may be connected to a tank carried on the back of the operator and fitted with a plunger 9 acted upon by the spring 10. The delivery valve 13 is placed in the plunger, and another valve 17 may be fitted in the nozzle delivery tube 11, as shown in Fig. 2, to prevent waste of the oil in the delivery tube. On pressing the nozzle end 16 into the oil cup, oil is forced out through the valve 13, and, on removing the nozzle end, the action of the spring 10 causes more oil to flow into the barrel. An adjustable stop 15 limits the stroke of the plunger.
