Abstract

3201. Krischer, P. Feb. 9. Overlap joints with longitudinal pressure and with yielding outer pipe; couplings with union nuts.-Couplings for connecting hose to cocks &c., of the type in which the hose is gripped on a conical tube by a nut and a hollow cone, are so constructed that the hollow cone is forced away from the hose when the nut is unscrewed. The hose d, Fig. 1, is gripped in known manner between the conical end b of the cock and the cone e by the nut f. The flange e<1> is threaded and screwed through the nut, so that, when the nut is unscrewed, its thread bears on that of the cone e and forces it away from the hose. In a modification the flange e<1> is not threaded, but a split spring ring is inserted in the space g to serve the same purpose. Figs. 6 and 7 show further modifications, in which the edge of the flange is grooved, the cone being forced off either by screws l or by two pins m united by a bridge. By duplicating the device it can be used for connecting two lengths of hose.
