Abstract

891. Sack, H. Jan. 13. Rolling.-In universal mills of the types described in Specifications 23,932/05 and 16,884/08, for rolling I-beams with outwardly diverging flanges, provision is made for the equal adjustment of the horizontal rolls towards the pass. The vertical rolls may also be simultaneously adjusted. In the arrangement shown, the pass-adjusting screws 11, 17 are geared together by bevel-wheels 13 and chains 16, 19. The housings 1 carry brackets 10 for the idle rolls, and the distance apart of the housings 1 may be adjusted by tie-bolts 21 which connect cross-plates 10' on the brackets 10. Guides for the work may be attached to the bolts 21 and to the housings.
