Abstract

484. Wismer, J. Jan. 8. Door-holders. -A door-holder comprises two vertically movable bolts 6, 8, which engage an abutment-piece 16, Fig. 17, on the floor. The bolt 8 is pivotally connected to the bent piece 5, which engages in an aperture 14 formed in the bolt 6. Suitable guides are provided for controlling the motion of the bolts, and they are kept depressed by springs 11, 15. When the bolts come in contact with the abutment piece 16, the bolt 8 turns on its pivot to the position shown in Fig. 5, and the bolt 6 is raised vertically by its sloping face coming coming against the sloping face of the piece 16. Continued movement of the door brings the bolt 6 to the vertical face 17, when it descends and keeps the door looked. To close the door, it must be opened until the bolt 8 is clear of the piece 16, whereupon it is turned on its pivot by the spring 9. On closing the door, the bolt 8 comes against a sloping face of the piece 16, and is raised, taking with it the bolt 6, which it keeps raised until both are clear of the abutment-piece 16.
