Abstract

The stability under heat of metaldehyde prepared by the polymerization of acetaldehyde with acid or neutral catalysts is improved by treatment with ammonia. Any desired degree of stability can be obtained by passing air containing definite proportions of ammonia over the metaldehyde and regulating the temperature and period of contact.
