Abstract
190,884. Halroyd, J., and Camp & Sports Co-operators, Ltd. Nov. 29, 1921. Rods and rod fittings.-In fishing rods consisting of two parts, one of which B forms an extension of the other A when in use and is capable of being reversed and inserted in that part to shorten the length of the rod when not in use, the connection in either one or both positions may be by a metal-to-metal joint which prevents separation of the parts solely by means of a longitudinal pull. In Figs. 4 and 5 the joint is of the bayonet type in which projections g, h on the spigot c provided at one end of the rod B are adapted to engage in the branches p, f, o of the slot e in the socket tube secured to the part A. When the connection is of the bayonet type the metal-tometal contact in the joint is not essential. The rod may be used as a walking-stick in the shortened position, in which case a knob C, Fig. 3, is provided having slots m, n to engage over the projections g.
