27,336. Garchey, L. April 29, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Springs.-Relates to the elastic members in telescopic wheel spokes comprising superposed elastic elements. In the form shown in Fig. 2, each element consists of a ring of india-rubber a fitted with an outer metal band c and with or without an inner metal band b. The elements co-operate with intermediate hard rings d of variable crosssection, and are fitted upon a tube g, supporting at its lower flanged end h a ring f, and screwing into an eye p at its upper end. The lower eye o is screwed to a rod i, which engages a ring e at the other end of the series by means of projections l passing through slots in the tube g. In the modification shown in Fig. 6, an india-rubber tube r is fitted with metal collars s, the effect of which is to cause the intermediate zones of india-rubber to act as elastic elements. The elements may be of elliptical section. In the form shown in Fig. 7, the elements consist of Belleville washers, set face to face in pairs and enclosed between a washer at the end of the rod and the bottom of the tube.
