Abstract

Taring - devices ; weights, methods of using.-In a balance, such as one of the type in which the beam b is mounted in a framing depending from a central stand e, a ture beam a with an adjustable counterpoise h is mounted alongside the main beam b in a bearing-block c, Fig. 3. The connexion between the two beams is effected by a hook j, Fig. 1, projecting from the main beam. When weighing goods into boxes or packages, the box is first balanced by the poise h. When the required quantity of goods has been added, the weight-pan rises, and a stand l, Fig. 1, thereon picks up the balancing- weight from a fixed support k. On removal of the box, the balancing-weight is deposited on its support, and a certain amount of movement of the scale is allowed free from the weight, to permit the adjustment if necessary of the tare poise h for the next box.
