Counter scales; indicating-mechanism. -Relates to the construction of a semi - automatic counter scale whereby the shock to the indicating - mechanism caused by applying or removing goods or loose weights is minimized. The weights pan 2 supports on a projection 20 a constant weight 10, which is coupled through lost motion links 17, 18 to a beam 11 fulcrumed on knife-edges 12. The beam 11 is rigid with pendulum-weight levers 14, which are coupled by a link 7 to a pivoted pointer 4. With the scale unloaded, the pointer is at zero and the pendulum-weight levers are inclined to the left. A sudden depression of the goods pan 3 is taken up by the lost-motion of the links 17, 18, and the pointer 4 swings easily over the graduations 5 under the influence of the pendulum-weight levers 14. A sudden depression of the weights pan 2 leaves the weight 10 suspended from the beam 11, and the weight returns the pointer to zero. A dash-pot 9 steadies the movements of the pointer.
