Centrifugal pumps.-The impellers of centrifugal fans and pumps are built up of corrugated rings assembled to form a cellular structure. In Fig. 6 the corrugated rings b are shown secured by long bolts between the hub disk h and the ring i. The general form of the impeller may be varied. Fig. 9 shows how the rings b may be arranged relatively to one another to produce the network. This construction imparts rigidity to the impeller. The rings may be cast or stamped out of sheet metal, and the surface may be curved in relation to a radius, or may be straight and oblique. The impeller may be made of one or more spirally arranged rolls of corrugated or angular material.
