Abstract

17,689. Pelterie, R. Esnault-. May 9, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Gas and like engines. - Engines having inclined cylinders'are lubricated by oil which is picked up by scoops o attached to the connecting-rod heads and thrown on to the cylinder walls. A reservoir a at the bottom of the crank casing b has a curved plate c formed with slots a between the paths h, Fig. 3, of the connecting-rod, and with openings e through which surplus oil returns to the reservoir. A part of the oil from the scoops passes through passages p to lubricate the crank-pins. To return the oil from the cylinders to the crank-casing, the pistons k are formed with oblique grooves l, Fig. 4, and oblique perforations n, the number of which is greater in the grooves nearer to the shaft and in the cylinders which are first passed by the scoops o.
