Fatty oils.-In apparatus for decolouring, bleaching, and thickening oils by treatment with compressed air in a heated vessel, the air is caused to take a long path through the oil while both are being stirred up together. Through a jacketed vessel passes a shaft 7 carrying a series of disks 3<1> which extend nearly to the walls of the vessel 1 and carry stirrers 11<1>. Between the disks 3<1> are horizontal partitions 3 extending from the walls of the vessel 1 nearly to the shaft 7 and carrying stirrers 11. Compressed air is introduced through a chamber 15 surrounding the bottom of the shaft 7. The stirrers 11, 11<1> may be perforated.
