15,705. Stone, C. P. July 24. Fastenings, railway-carriage door.-The spring bolt b of a railway-carriage door is rounded off at b<1> and recessed at b<2>. The socket c, formed in the door jamb to receive the bolt b, is provided with an electro-magnet e having a keeper d which, when the bolt is shot into the sockets and the magnet energized by a current derived from a dynamo driven off the carriage axle, is attracted so as to engage the recess b<2> and secure the bolt. When the carriage is at rest, the keeper d lies in the recess, leaving the bolt free to be withdrawn in the usual way.
