Fastenings, railway-carriage door.-The latch bolt a is withdrawn by a horn f<1> of the follower f, and is held retracted in the striking position by a hook g<1> on the follower engaging a hook h<1> on the catch bolt h, as shown in Fig. 3. The striking- plate is so arranged that the latch bolt a is struck before the bolt h, so that the hooks are disengaged before the bolt h is pressed in to release the follower and allow the latch a to be shot by the springs c. The horn g is provided on the follower f to withdraw the bolt h fully from the staple when the door is to be opened.
